Foulridge Canal Cruises
The canal wharf at Foulridge is the home of the 'Marton Emperor', a 50 seater trip boat built for operating trips on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal. The boat runs Public trips on Sundays at 2.30pm from 11th. April and Tuesdays at 2.30 pm from May 4th. until Sunday 26th. September. The one and a half hour trips travel up the canal towards Salterforth and cost £3.50 adults, £1.75 Children.
On the last Sunday in the month (April 25th. until September 26th.) a two hour tunnel
trip through the famous Foulridge 'Mile'
tunnel is run. This trip which includes morning coffee and a certificate for
the Children is £4.00 adults and £2.00 Children.
The canal is worth looking at even if not traveling by boat. The entrance to the
mile tunnel can be seen as well as the restored lime kiln. Foulridge Tea Rooms
operate from the old wharf office and stables and on boat operating days, the warehouse is
open with a canal display. Car parking at the wharf is free and ample.
